She's a Coach
Updated: Sep 22, 2020
Yes, I'm a coach. What does that mean? Actually, I’ve been doing it for over 10 years. I’ve been the expert who reviews resumes for everyone and their sister, making connections for people to find jobs, coaching people in how to interview, and being the ‘straight-to-the-point’ person who will tell you the hard thing you need to hear to get you moving. It’s just that now, this is what I’m doing professionally.
Also, and this is just a minor point: I’ve been running a professional / career development program for 4,000 to 8,000 people at two agencies for the last 3 years. So, there’s that.
I love coaching and helping people, not just in career development. That’s why I have a degree in psychology and why I studied clinical mental health at the graduate level– so I could help people. That’s why I relentlessly read leadership books and listen to podcasts, why I have mentors in every specialty area I pursue, and why I have a Certified High Performance Coach myself.
On paper, it’s all there.
In my real life, I practice what I preach. I perform at a high-level every single day. Every day. I want to show you what I’ve been doing, just over the last 8 months, to give you a high-level snapshot of why I believe, in the depth of my heart, that I can help others live joyful, energetic, and successful lives. Since August 2018 I have:
Spoken at six conferences in six states in the last 8 months!
Helped a friend launch a company as a founding partner
Launched my own company (Leading Ladies, what what!?!)
Launched a website and company brand (anyone who’s done this knows it’s very time consuming)
Started a national career development initiative for the federal government (possibly speaking to Senate and Congress about this initiative in about 3 weeks)
Changed jobs (a huge life stressor!)
Worked a ‘side-hustle’ writing website content for tech firms
and…
Lost 22lbs and 2 dress sizes
… all while also being a fun and engaged mom, redecorating my son’s room, managing four major holidays with joy and energy, planting a garden, and working a full time job! Oh – and I’ve also taken almost six weeks of time off to refresh and rest, which is a key to high performance and to not burning out.
I’ve set four major goals for myself this year to achieve by April 30th and I’ve achieved all but one: I want to add two more clients to my coaching practice. I want to help two more people see their full potential, and then go for it with gusto. I want to coach two people look at their dreams, and start today to work toward those dreams. I want to see two women harness their leadership abilities and achieve their career goals and home goals without burning out.
